History Of Little Italy Tours

Little Italy San Diego dates back to the late 1800s. At its peak, 6000 Italian families lived, loved and labored here. In old San Diego, Little Italy was a major center for the fishing industry. Skilled Italian workers – mainly from Genoa and Sicily – helped sunny San Diego grow into the vibrant city you see today.

Little Italy honors its Italian roots, all while blossoming into a 21st-century neighborhood. Our streets brim with delizioso dining and eclectic shops. Contemporary lofts stand next to wooden homes from an earlier era – marrying the New and Old Worlds.

In 1997, Little Italy tours began to offer walking tours of our loveable neighborhood. We wanted to share the people behind the places, the traditions behind the trattorias. Our team is comprised of Italian-born San Diegans and Little Italy natives. We bring our guests inside the real Italian culture – sharing its origins in Italy and the new shape it took on in the U.S.

When you tour Little Italy with us, you won’t just enjoy a memorable meal. You become part of our famiglia – gaining access to nonna-perfected flavors and off-menu dishes!

Today, San Diego’s Italian quarter is the most successful Little Italy in the United States. It’s our honor and pleasure to introduce you to the Little Italy that locals adore – a place where Mom & Pop pizzerias thrive alongside contemporary design.

If you’re looking for a true taste of San Diego, look no further than our beloved Little Italy.
