The Magic of the Italian Meal : Courses 1-5
APERITIVO – The meal begins with a beverage and a small appetizer. Perhaps a glass of wine and a small plate of cheese, olives and nuts.
ANTIPASTI – A heartier appetizer. Our favorites are bruschetta and salami with an aged cheese.
PRIMI – The first main course. You may be served a soup, lasagne or another pasta dish.
SECONDI – The main meat dish of the meal. The cook can offer chicken, pork, red meat or seafood.
CONTORNI – The side dish. The contorno is the vegetable dish of the meal and is served with the secondi. In Italy, side dishes are served on a separate plate.
