To All Those Who Labor

3 September, 2017

This weekend, in North America, we celebrate the Labor Day holiday.  This holiday is usually known for BBQs, swim parties, and fun at the beach. It’s the last big hoorah of summer and it’s a time to rest, have fun, and enjoy family and friends. It’s the perfect American holiday.

The reason we celebrate Labor Day adds to its appeal but it’s something that is often forgotten as we eat our hot dogs and dive into the pool. Labor Day is dedicated to the American workers and what they have accomplished both economically and socially. The strength and prosperity of this country was built with the hands of every laborer past and present.

During each of our tours here at Little Italy Food Tours we walk the streets of our San Diego community experiencing the fruits of the labor of so many. Each building, each piece of artwork, each storefront, so many years of work and passion help create the beauty we enjoy. As we talk to the chefs and restaurant owners, we hear stories of hard work, passion, and determination. We meet those who have labored so they can share what they love, authentic Italian food, with our community.

To all these laborers we say Thank You. We hope they take some time to rest from all they do and we hope you do the same.

What are some of your favorite Labor Day memories and traditions? We’d love to hear from you.

Happy Labor Day from Little Italy Food Tours.
