Introducing Cinzano – A Little Italy Food Tour Specialty
The Cinzano is a Little Italy Food Tour specialty.
I have a favorite cousin. Her name is Stefania. We had not seen each other in 40 years.
We reconnected in Little Italy-San Diego. On her first night in town, I hosted her at Il Monello in Little Italy. I suggested an aperitivo–housemade ‘sweet vermouth’ known as cinzano. It is an Italian tradition since the 1700’s. It is made with locally sourced produce and 27 secret ingredients–herbs, roots, bark and botanicals, red wine, white wine and brandy.
Stefania told me she doesn’t drink. I said, “try this.” It’s light and refreshing and will pair beautifully with the antipasti. Stefania enjoyed this cocktail so much, she went to Monello every night of her visit–4 nights in a row. And she has been out from NY several more times and each night at Monello for the sweet vermouth. Stefania and I toasted our joyous reunion.
When you come on our Old School Little Italy Food Tour, you will enjoy some too. And we will make a toast together. Awaiting your arrival. Salute!
